One Man AAArmy

by Club Crucible

I’ve often worked alone. In most areas of life, that’s fine.
But in gamedev?
Working alone is a crucible.

When I started, it was crippling. I had to learn everything from scratch:

  • Game engines (I could code, but Unity and Godot were completely foreign)
  • Vector math
  • Quaternions (the devil’s Rubik’s Cube)
  • Drawing again after years away
  • Vector art
  • 2D puppet animation

And every time I caught up to one skill, another would bottleneck me.
So I pushed farther. I wanted more flexibility.
I went 3D.

Suddenly, I unlocked entire realms—animation challenges, new styles, new pipelines.
At first I sculpted in simple vector-style color blocks, almost toony.
Then low poly.
Then particle systems.
Then visual shaders.

But even then, I felt boxed in. Tutorials gave me tricks, not understanding.

And then AI happened.

Did you know?

ChatGPT can generate:

  • seamless textures
  • animated sprites
  • normal maps
  • concept art
  • model sheets

It can’t make 3D models.
But Meshy can.
And what does Meshy need?

Concept art.

So my current pipeline looks like this:

  1. ChatGPT — concept character
  2. Meshy — generate the 3D model
  3. Mixamo — animations I don’t feel like hand-keying
  4. Blender — everything else: polish, rigs, fixes

Terrain? ChatGPT gives me textures—realistic, painterly, toony, whatever I need.
Meshy eats the prompts and spits out props and structures.

ChatGPT also makes:

  • particle system sprites
  • alphas
  • heightmaps
  • shader logic
  • code scaffolding with help from GitHub Copilot

The weight is off programming.
The weight is off art.
The weight is off everything that used to choke a solo developer.

What’s it not off?

Sound effects and animation.

Those still take craft. Time. Experience.
But I have years of animation in my hands now.
I’m not AAA, but I’m solid.
Sound effects? Still a weakness—but I’m learning, and AI helps me source, shape, mix, and layer things I could never manage alone.

Music?
Mureka or Soundful. Infinite, cheap, customizable.

And because of all this… something unlocked in me.

I can complete games now.

I’ve almost published one.
It’s fun, it’s tight, and it looks damn good.
It even has its own theme song.

All because AI unlocked my solo potential.

I don’t need a team.

I am the team.
